Maputo, Mozambique
How low-income residents make homescapes in Maputo by accessing water (mainly) through taps (inside and outside the home) in a rationed/intermittent way?

Maputo is the capital of Mozambique and has a population approximately of 1.101.170 inhabitants. Approximately 70% of the city’s population currently lives in informal settlements characterized by high density and insufficient access to infrastructure.

During the last decade droughts have affected water provision and formal and informal suppliers can only provide water intermittently.

Maputo is a city with important inequalities, is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, and is the most densely populated urban area in the country. In recent years, Aedes mosquitoes have been identified in some of the city’s neighborhoods.
